There’s some difficult news about Peter Griffin, who some of us have had the good fortune to meet via Caferati and the Kala Ghoda Gazette. Annie Zaidi has posted the following on Peter’s blog:
Zig’s not well
This is Annie guest-posting here, under very difficult circumstances.
Zigzackly had a serious heart attack about 3 days ago. He was in the ICU, being monitored for 72 hours, and has now been moved to a regular room. He’ll probably have to undergo an angioplasty soon.
Friends who are in Bombay with him have sent messages saying that he now seems relaxed and chatty, albeit pretty weak, and cribbing much about hospital food.
I do not have many details since I’m in Delhi, but those who wish to could write to me: zaidiannie at gmail dot com: and I will send updates as I get them.
John Matthew adds a note after having visited Peter in the ICU of Sterling Wockhardt Hospital, Vashi.
He is feeling much better and we had a long chat. (Among the topics discussed were: his cooking style, food preferences, Anglican faith, work, biryanis, how Indian food over-uses spices [we like to dump our spice don’t we?], the Mallu factor in hospitals, etc.) He seemed in the mood to talk and I didn’t dissuade him. His humour and irony is as strong as ever and he seemed in good spirits.
Dilip D’souza has also been to see him and has kindly offered to pass on any messages to Peter, when he sees him next.
I met Peter for the first time at a house-party. We didn’t speak much but a few months later, I had an email from him asking if I’d like to be a part of the Kala Ghoda Gazette team. That was two years back. Besides the Gazette, he has also been nice enough to send some other interesting things my way, including some impromptu counselling on careers in writing.
I’m quite shaken up by this news. Please join me in wishing Peter a speedy recovery.
Update on this:
The missing comments section has been restored. Thanks are in order to Cynic who pointed the bug out to me and to Brad, my dear A.E. who tipped me off on how to fix it!
The template is still evolving…a work in progress we like to call it! I’ll fix the broken sidebars sometime soon. There shouldn’t be too many blunders now that I’ve received a verbal rap-on-the-knuckles for not making back-ups of code from various people. But if you see something off or looking abnormal (disregard the usual weirdness that you see on the Idea-smithy), I’d appreciate it if you’d give me a shout. My email address for those who didn’t note the ‘Drop an idea’ section below my header is ideasmithy at gmail dot com.
And while you’re poking around, I’d love to hear from you on the design, the template, the features…anything at all!
Back to normal posting…one hopes!
The Cynic brings it to my notice that my comments section isn’t working (thank you, ma’am!).
I’m afraid this will be the case over the weekend since I won’t be able to check it before Sunday. Much apologies to everyone…and please to bear with my techno-greekiness till I figure out a way to blog without blowing up something or the other on the site. In the meantime, as a poor (very poor) alternative, do try the ‘Drop an idea’ section to mail me your shouts, brickbats and errm..a few bouquets?
….and here I was wondering why no one commented on 3 new posts, a new template AND my mug-shot up on the blog for the fussst time!
Hear! Hear! Announcement time again!
I’m tweaking the template of the Idea-smithy so there may be a few bizzare occurances (or not!).
I’ve switched around the two side-bars already so you’ll see my updates, the avatar, my idea-tweets and all the rest of my stuff on the left bar. On the right is your stuff – your comments, who you are and some ideas to keep you amused (more soon!).
Also, dear readers, there are a few things I’ve added to the comments section. Now you can not just tell me your ideas but show me how you feel too with the smileys! 👿 💡 🙄
There’s a tracker of the top commenters in this workshop as well in the sidebar so keep your ideas coming in!
You may notice the Links section missing. But fikar not, I’m not turning anti-social and going against my own rules of Blogettiquette. But the blogroll does need pruning (and additions!). So I’ll bring back the ‘Other idea-makers’ section shortly after I’ve perused through all the geniuses who I pass on the blogsphere.
And while about this, some help would really be much appreciated. I realized that the blog was taking too long to load so I changed the background from black to grey which seems to have helped some. I’m yet to figure out a way to replace the header with the lovely-but-strange-Oriental-girl and bring back the roaring dragon..and oh maybe that header I designed and some of you inadvertently got a sneak-peek into, early this week! 😳
Forgot to mention earlier, there’s this neat plug-in I added which shows the latest post of each commenter. I always try and return a blog-visit and for all you know, I already have you on my feed-reader (if you’ve left your URL behind that is). But this allows other readers also to get an update of what’s happening on your blog. So when you step into the Idea-smithy, do be sure to leave a footprint behind!
Ideasmith has been busy. Ideasmith has been unwell.
Ideasmith has been recycling posts. Ideasmith has not been replying to comments and mails.
Ideasmith says SORR-EEEEE!! for being less than perfect. Ideasmith needs a break.
Don’t go away please, I will be back…thodi hi der mein haazir.
(of course you knew that already except this time I’m saying it too!)
And in the meantime, pat me on the back for having a post featured in Hindustan Times Blogosphere section last week. Yippeee…the thrill of seeing my words in print never leaves me.
A baby in an incubator.
Life determined to make its presence felt. How fragile we are…how much we need, how little we treasure it.
Alicia, open your eyes soon. The world is waiting for you.
And your generation to bring it back to life.
The time has come….has long been waiting
And I have nothing more to say except
And of course…thank you
For hearing what I had to say
For sharing your ideas and thoughts
For offering advice and support
For sharing this space with me
Thank you, so very much.
Call this shameless publicity but what the heck….we write in order to be read. And I have a sneaky suspicion all bloggers are like me….exhibitionists at heart. What am I on about? Why, my other blogs of course.
In the sidebar, fellow bloggers and readers, plizz note that there is a section titled ‘Also by IdeaSmith’. So do drop into these other blogs too sometime and give me your brickbats and bouquets.
