Meet IdeaSmith

993953_10152081845033275_1227018885_nI began blogging in 2004, anonymously under the handle of IdeaSmith. I have since set up other blogs, edited group-blogs, run online communities and blogged professionally. My writing has grown from personal diarying to social commentary, reviews, event coverage, creative writing and digital content for businesses. In 2009, I quit my corporate avatar to realign my life and with that, I gave up anonymity.

My name is Ramya Pandyan. I live in Mumbai. I love writing and it has been my good fortune to discover paid work doing it. I write about topics as diverse as cityscapes, art, relationships, style, pop culture, gender stereotypes and writing (as a craft). I also do other work (relating to my experience with the medium) such as training & consulting on the use of content in business.

My other blog is called XXFactor and covers gender politics & relationships.
I used to run a comic strip (see here).
See my online portfolio collated here.
Tweet to me at @ideasmithy. See the city through my eyes on Instagram.
Follow my life on my Vlog. I share my performances and my style stories.

I am a Spoken Word artiste and regularly perform at popular venues around the city. My pieces usually address feminism, relationship drama and urban living. I have been featured at some of the big events and have also collaborate with other performers.

I run a writers’ community called Alphabet Sambar. We host peer feedback meets, online storytelling games, writing workshops & bootcamps. We are based in Mumbai but we also have growing chapters in Thane and Pune. We are on Facebook and Twitter.

Email me at ideasmithy[at]gmail[dot]com. You can also say hello here:

Welcome to my blog and to my world.
