We like so many of the same things. I wonder then, why it is such an effort to like each other. But I guess common taste does not translate to great bonds.

Sometimes disparate tastes can lead to great bonding too!
Give it some more time. You will find a few differences in the common things you mentioned.
@ DC: No bonhomie in this case. Just lots of stuff in common, not including any regard for the other.
@ Bibs: That’s a thought…actually exactly what the person, this was written about, says. I can’t fathom that somehow.
